About LoganStation and Robert Logan
The original LoganStation was a train stop in Rutherford, NC, at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. It's pronounced "Ruthford". Most of my dad’s family lived in or around Rutherford. There used to be a "Logan" municipality adjacent to Rutherford, NC until dad’s cousins stole the sign when he was a teenager. Dad’s cousins presented the sign to him as a teenager when he was babysitting one weekend. Dad passed the Logan sign to me when I was a teenager. The sign has been with me ever since and now hangs on my porch. It is one of my most treasured possessions. Everywhere I have lived since receiving the sign has been "The LoganStation".

I was born in SC to Anne and Robert Logan at Baptist Regional hospital. As dad would say “I am Robert Earl Logan III, forth generation oldest son, inheritor of the family fortune and with the Logan pedigree.” Dad gave up a new corvette for graduating from the Citadel to have me so I’ve always believed I was worth at least a nice sports car. My brothers are Mike and Ladd. Ladd died in a car accident in Birmingham, AL in 1987. Mike is married with two children and lives in Greensboro, NC.

Myself, I have two "merit badges" for marriage and don't expect but one more with the lovely and beutiful Ruth Sieling. I’ve never been a breeder but have two beautiful step-children, Stacy and Tia from my second marriage. Ruth has a son I consider my own, he’s "my boy". I love all three of them like they are my own. They have each been the greatest blessings in my life.

School for me started at Irmo Grammar School in Columbia, SC. I don’t remember much about that time in my life other than spending a lot of time outside the principal Mr. Loadholt’s office. My family moved to Greensboro, NC during the fall of 1975 when I went to Guilford Middle School. My brother Mike and I graduated from Western Guilford High School.

My education includes an undergraduate degree from UNCG with a BS double major in Economics and Business Administration. The principals of economics have explained everything but "faith" and "crazy" in my life. I use the principals of economics every day to evaluate situations and the motivations of people. After UNCG I moved to Columbia, SC for an MBA at the University of South Carolina. As much as I learned in school, Dale Carnegie has been more helpful in my life than school. Except for the period of graduate school and a short period afterwards I have lived in Greensboro all of my adult life until moving to Blowing Rock, NC.

I always wanted to live in the mountains. My grandmother always wanted to walk the appalachian trail. After she died I thought I could be still be closer with her and God if I lived here. In 2006 I packed up all my marbles in a bag and moved to Boone, NC. It was a small bag. Everything I owned fit in the back of a pickup truck. Except for my relationships, I could fit everything I care about in a pair of grocery bags. If God walks the earth, I’ve always believed he walks peacefully in the Appalachian Mountains.

Ruth and I met working for her brother several years ago. Ruth, her son Mikey and I moved in together July, 2008. We each live together in Blowing Rock, NC. Ruth and I picked Labor Day for our anniversary so we’d always have the day off and could celebrate our relationship with fireworks. Ruth and Mikey are great joys in my life and I look forward to sharing the rest of my life with each of them. Ruth and I plan on getting married soon.

There has never been a plan in my life for myself. As my brother says "Logan’s don’t make plans, we create options." It gives me great satisfaction to create and manage the programming behind my website. In life I have enjoyed most creating things and building people. I’ve never described myself as a "programmer" but programming has always complimented the success in my employment. Programming has always given me something on which to focus my brain. Writing a well constructed program is a work of art and I feel like an artist when I create one.

That’s the one beer story. I don’t keep many secrets but you’d have to come by for dinner to hear the more gruesome details of my life. Weather permitting Ruth, Mikey and I share dinner with our friends and neighbors every other Saturday in the back yard during the summer. Guests are always welcome and RSVP’s are not required.

I’m waiting to see what’s next. May the force be with you...
